Bhuwan KC
ActorBhuwan K.C., born June 9th, 1959, is a multifaceted figure in Nepali entertainment and politics, acclaimed as an actor, director, producer, singer, and politician.
He currently serves as the Chairman of the Film Development Board, a position he assumed on July 26, 2022.
Starting his journey in the entertainment industry at the age of 10 as a singer for Radio Nepal, K.C. captivated audiences with songs like “Jage Jage Sara Raat,” “Aru Kalo Rail Ko Dhuwale,” and “Mayalu Timi Tadha.”
His acting career took off with his debut movie “Juni” in 1983, followed by the breakthrough success of “Samjhana” in 1984.
Over the years, he has delivered memorable performances in hit films such as “Kusume Rumal” (1985), “Santaan” (1987), “Tilhari” (1988), “Kanyadan” (1990), “Chino” (1990), “Trishna” (1991), “Dui Thopa Aansu” (1993), “Dakshina” (1994), “Raanko” (1995), “Karodpati” (1997), “Nepali Babu” (1999), and “Superstar” (2003). Notably, he ventured into directing with the film “Dreams” (2016), featuring his son Anmol K.C. in the lead role.
In the realm of politics, K.C. is affiliated with the Nepali Congress, having switched from CPN (UML). Initially intending to contest for the mayoral position in the 2022 Kathmandu municipal election with the Advanced Democratic Party, he later withdrew his candidacy and shifted his allegiance to the Nepali Congress.
Despite his contributions to the industry and politics, K.C. has not been without controversy.
